So it's cold out, my attempts at pinning down a part-time job have been (mostly) unsuccessful and I'm hungry. Always. Forever. Hungry. Aren't you?
To the right is a personal favorite, my own version of the shakshuka pictured here that I have been obsessed with ever since I ate it in Tel Aviv.
Directions: scramble two eggs, toss with tomatoes, tomato sauce and just about any veggies you desire. I used fennel because I said so and because it makes my breath smell good. I used red pepper flakes for spicing. If you don't like so much kick, a little "sal y pimienta" will do. Cook it till the juices evaporate and serve on a slice of bread / hollowed out bagel. Check out the picture linked above: no utensils required!
And below is of course a whole slew of other photos of a dinner I made from scratch the other night with my handy-dandy mother as sous chef.

On the menu:
-Turkey + Veggie-stuffed Bell Peppers and Zucchini
-Gnocchi in tomato sauce
I used bottled tomato sauce for the gnocchi. Sue me. It's a good brand and I was already busy rolling gnocchi from scratch. My family didn't even know the difference.
Pretty much copied Giada De Laurentiis' recipes from this celebration on her show:

Giada is a cooking/hosting goddess and this was astoundingly easy. Once I remembered what gnocchi are supposed to look like, it was also kind of fun. I bow my head to the Food Network in all its eternal glory.
